MARGERY WILSON, spent a lot of her energy thinking about the importance of “CHARM.”Born in 1896, she was an American actress, writer and silent film director.

In her book, she reminds us that “CHARM” demands daily expression in your life or it dwindles.”

Right on, Margery.

“Practice CHARM and you will have the smooth, knowing grace of living we call  ‘SAVIOR FAIRE’.”

(SAVIOR – TO KNOW     FAIRE – TO DO”)

Another wonderful soul, poet MAYA ANGELOU, once said, “People may not remember exactly what you did, or what you said, but they will always remember how you made them feel.”

She also talked about the gentle benefits of CHARM.

A first impression, because it is so hard to shake, may be worthy of some attention.

Whether you are applying for a job, going out on a blind date, networking or interacting the parents of your children’s friends, keep these strategies in mind:

  1. Be pleasant. Smile, say hello, look your companion in the eye.
  2. Be positive… don’t be a downer.
  3. Be interested.
  4. Make sure you have dressed appropriately for whatever the occasion
  5. Always be courteous.
  6. Pay attention to your body language. (Smirks and tics can be perceived as impatience.)
  7. Maintain eye contact.
  8. Call the person you are talking with by name. (Everyone likes to hear his or her own name.)
  9. Appreciate their jokes.
  10. Ask questions. (Most people like to talk about themselves.)
  11. Don’t be a phony; you are unique. Reveal some of the real you… but respect the boundaries of others.

                                                                             THINK ABOUT THIS:

  • There can be a really big payoff for being charming.
  • When you bring CHARMING ENERGY into the conversation, you are more likely to will leave the other party feeling positive… and about you as well.

.

“To have SAVOIR FAIREis to have a magic power called CHARM,which blends and harmonizes all the little roughness and awkwardness which touch you, into a more graceful, higher atmosphere.”

“Charm”by Margery Wilson is   a wonderful, old fashioned read, available on Amazon.
